Ugadi crackers at the Sivakasi price
Ugadi opens the Telugu year. Mango leaf torans go up over the door, the house eats Ugadi pachadi with its six tastes for the six kinds of days ahead, and in the evening the panchanga sravanam reads out what the new year holds.

Why crackers belong to Ugadi
A new year wants a small, cheerful noise at its start. Ugadi is not a big cracker night; it is a garland in the morning and a little light for the children after the panchangam.
What to buy
A small list is enough. One garland, a few boxes of sparklers and a couple of flower pots make a complete Ugadi, and the rest of the minimum order keeps well until the next festival.

Ugadi questions
When is Ugadi?
In March or April, on the first day of the Chaitra month. It moves every year with the lunar calendar, so check your panchangam.
Do people burst many crackers at Ugadi?
Not many. It is a festival of the kitchen and the temple more than the street. A garland in the morning and sparklers for the children is the usual.
Is the minimum order the same outside the Deepavali season?
Yes, 5,000 rupees all year. Orders in the quiet months often arrive at the quick end of the 3 to 6 days band.
