Why crackers belong to Bathukamma and Dasara
The flowers and the songs are the heart of Bathukamma, not the crackers. They come in at the edges: a garland as the procession leaves for the water on the final evening, and at Dasara itself, after the jammi puja, when families visit, exchange jammi leaves and celebrate into the night.
What to buy
Keep it light for Bathukamma: sparklers and flower pots for the children after the immersion. Save the bigger order for Dasara night, with a garland, ground chakkars and a couple of sky shots. Because Dasara comes only a few weeks before Deepavali, many families place one order for both.

When are Bathukamma and Dasara?
Through Sharada Navaratri in September or October. The dates move each year with the lunar calendar, so check your panchangam for Saddula Bathukamma and Vijayadashami.
Can I order once for Dasara and Deepavali?
Yes, and plenty of families do. Order before Navaratri begins and keep the Deepavali boxes sealed, in a cool dry place, until then. The last Deepavali order we can promise for Telangana is 30 October.
Are crackers part of Bathukamma itself?
Only lightly. The festival is about the flowers, the songs and the immersion. Crackers belong more to the evening after, and to Dasara night.
